Emergency data recovery in Manchester.

Priority handling moves your job to the front and lets us read what you need first. What it cannot do is make a failing drive read faster — and more of the total time is usually decided in the hour before you call than by anything we charge for.

Speed changes the queue. It does not change the physics.

Priority handling moves your job to the front and lets us image the directories you need first. It cannot make a failing drive read faster, and it cannot make a donor part arrive sooner. Where it will not help, we say so rather than take the premium.

// what priority actually buys

Three things, and one it doesn’t.

Set out plainly so you can judge whether it is worth paying for in your case.

// what actually saves time

The hour before you call us.

More of the total elapsed time is usually decided at your end than at ours.

01

Stop using it immediately

Every minute a failing drive runs adds damage and lengthens the imaging. This is worth more than any premium you can pay.

02

Bring it rather than post it

Peter House on Oxford Street, Manchester, Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm. A courier overnight is a day you do not get back.

03

Know what you actually need

“The accounts folder” or “the Whitfield job” lets us prioritise. “Everything” means the whole image completes before anything is delivered.

04

Tell us what has been tried

A rebuild started, a scan run, software installed — each changes the approach. Discovering it mid-job costs hours.

05

Have someone available to approve

Jobs regularly wait not on the bench but on a decision. If you are away, nominate someone who can authorise the quote.

// realistic timescales

What can genuinely be compressed.

Because a deadline you plan around is worth more than one you hope for.

The free diagnostic normally returns inside 48 hours and can be same-day on a priority job dropped in early. From approval, a logical recovery on healthy hardware often completes within a day or two — there is no imaging bottleneck when the drive reads normally.

Physical recoveries are set by the hardware. A donor drive has to be sourced and fitted, and imaging a damaged surface runs at whatever pace the drive tolerates — sometimes days. RAID and server work adds every member imaged before reconstruction can start. Priority moves all of that forward in the queue; it does not shorten the work itself, and any firm promising otherwise on a mechanically failed drive is promising something they cannot deliver.

// pricing

Standard rates, priority quoted alongside.

So you can see both figures and decide.

The underlying prices do not change for urgent work: from £250 +VAT for cards and USB media, from £300 +VAT for a single drive, from £500 +VAT for RAID, NAS and servers. Priority handling is quoted as a separate line so you see exactly what the speed costs.

And if your case is one where priority buys nothing — a donor part is on order, or the drive can only be read slowly — we will tell you that and not charge for it. Call 0161 871 0788 before sending anything urgent so we know it is coming.

// getting it to us

Getting it to the bench.

Post the device over with a short note on what happened. The diagnostic costs nothing, and the figure that follows is fixed in writing before anything is opened.

1

Post it, or drop it in

The road to your data back starts with the device reaching us. Wrap it well, tuck your contact details inside, and send it along — after the free diagnostic runs, your exact price is confirmed in writing before anything begins.

Packing it properly
  • Pack it into a compact, solid box or a well-padded envelope.
  • Leave cables, power bricks and caddies at home — the recovery needs none of them.
  • Slip your name, address, phone and email inside, on a note or our shipping form, then seal the package.

Sending by post? We would point you to a tracked and insured service. Prefer to hand it over? Come by Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm — just pack the device as above beforehand.

2

Not ready to send it?

After a little more detail up front? Tell us more about the problem on the form and an engineer will review it and send back a tailored quote.

Every enquiry is read by an engineer in person — during the day a reply usually lands inside 30 minutes. Rather call? 0161 871 0788.

Message received — thank you.

// emergency questions

Emergency recovery, answered.

The queries that come up most when the clock is against you.

The free diagnostic is usually back within 48 hours, and same-day on a priority job dropped in early. Logical recoveries on healthy hardware often finish in a day or two; physical recoveries are set by the hardware and can take several days.

It moves you to the front of the queue and lets us image the directories you need first — both genuinely save time. It cannot make a failing drive read faster or a donor part arrive sooner, and where it will not help we say so.

Stop using the device immediately, bring it rather than posting it, know precisely which files you need most, tell us what has already been tried, and make sure someone is available to approve the quote. Jobs often wait on a decision rather than the bench.

For genuine business-critical emergencies we can usually arrange it. Call and explain the situation — what is possible depends on what the drive needs rather than on willingness.

Drop off if you can reach Peter House on Oxford Street during the working day — a courier overnight is a full day you never get back on an urgent job.

The recovery price is the same. Priority handling is quoted as a separate line so you can see what the speed costs and decide whether it is worth it in your case.
